Celebrating Craft Beer: PhilStic Labels and the Brewers’ Guild of New Zealand

New Zealand’s beer scene has undergone an incredible transformation since the early 1900s, when your options were limited to ales, ports, and stouts from just two breweries.

Fast forward to today, and the landscape is teeming with nearly 200 small-scale craft breweries and brewpubs that proudly champion a wide array of beer styles.  These stellar breweries emphasise quality, artistry, and a meticulous attention to detail.  Each brew is a masterpiece, showcasing complex flavour profiles crafted from top-notch ingredients.  This passion for brewing has not only delighted beer lovers but has also made a substantial economic impact, contributing NZ$3.58 billion to the national GDP and supporting more than 35,200 jobs.

But the craft beer movement isn't just about the economy.  It plays a vital role in community engagement and tourism as local breweries often operate cozy bars and vibrant taprooms.  In addition, events like Beervana - which drew an impressive 16,000 attendees last year -highlight the thriving culture and camaraderie that comes with craft brewing.

As a family-run business ourselves, PhilStic Labels is thrilled to support this dynamic industry.  We recognize the hard work, creativity, and dedication that goes into each batch, and it brings us immense pride to be a part of this flourishing sector of our economy and community.  This year, we had the honour of sponsoring the Juicy/Hazy Pale Ale Trophy at the Brewers’ Guild Of New Zealand 2025 Beer Awards.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners!  A special shoutout goes to Canyon Brewing, who clinched the trophy with their remarkable Vacation Hazy Pale Ale.

Cheers to the incredible craft beer industry in New Zealand!  Here’s to more creativity, community, and, of course, great beer!
